In 1980, a move to Calgary inspired Lawson to get involved in the kitchen business. After managing a retail outlet for Kitchen Craft Canada, Earl opened up operations in Vancouver and took over ownership of the company. Subsequently, he partnered in the opening of Showcase Kitchen Interiors, which eventually evolved into its current manifestation as V6B design group.
